White Sulphur Springs welcomed President Trump as he hosted a round-table discussion on tax reform, among many other issues. The president heard personal stories from individuals who have benefited from the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act.
People in attendance included:
– Representatives from native West Virginian companies who provided benefits to their employees as a result of the historic tax reform that the President signed into law last year, including:
- Citizens Bank of West Virginia, a Elkins-based community bank that awarded $1,000 bonuses for all their employees.
- Davis Trust Company, a Elkins-based community bank that instituted 3% pay increases on top of year-end merit & cost-of-living increases for all 45 full-time & 2 part-time employees.
- Worldwide Equipment, a regional truck dealership company with a full service location in White Sulphur Springs awarded $300 bonuses for over 1,100 employees.
– WV families who have been positively impacted by the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act:
- The Lilly family of Ghent, West Virginia, saved $3,563 due to the enactment of the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act.
- The Hodge Family of Hurricane, West Virginia, saved $2,417 due to the enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
- The Farrell Family, Huntington, West Virginia, opened a 529 college savings account last month (March), owing to the fact that families are able to use up to $10,000 on primary and secondary education
– Elected officials from West Virginia who support and advance President Trump’s pro-growth economy agenda:
- Jim Justice, Governor (WV)
- Shelley Moore Capito, U.S. Senator (WV)
- Evan Jenkins, U.S. Representative (WV-03)
- Patrick Morrisey, Attorney General (WV)
This is the President’s fourth trip to West Virginia during the first term of his Administration.
